Binaries: Spectroscopic, Occultation: Lunar
Scientific paper
A program has been written to calculate theoretical light curves for lunar occultations. The program has been used to analyze the occultation observed by Osborn of the spectroscopic binary SAO 93957. The analysis yields a magnitude difference between the two components of the binary of 0.71 mag. at lambda 4200 and a separation of 15.1 arc milliseconds in the direction of the occultation. Combining this with an earlier photoelectric occultation observation by Evans and Edwards gave a true separation of 23.2 arc milliseconds at position angle 17.2 degrees for 0.25 phase in the spectroscoipic orbit. Results from the analyses of the occultations of the Hyades stars SAO 93975 and SAO 93981, which were used to test the reduction method, are also given.
