Scientific paper

The paper examines the mechanism of formation of albedo-electrons in the geomagnetic field, which are observed at satellite heights in the equatorial zone. A comparison of the calculated flux of albedo electrons with the observed flux shows that the flux of albedo electrons with energy exceeding 100 MeV on open L-shells can be explained by the decay of charged pions, formed from the interaction of primary cosmic rays with air nuclei. On closed L-shells, the observed electron flux can be explained by a residual atmosphere of protons of the inner radiation belt.
