Studies pertaining to the natural occurrence of transuranium elements on
earth and in space are examined. Emphasis is placed on Anders' search
for superheavy elements on the basis of xenon isotopes (Xe-136, Xe-134,
Xe-132, and Xe-131) in meteorites. Reasons why this search ended in
failure are discussed.
