Twenty-nine Hα scans were obtained with the Wisconsin 15-cm Fabry-Perot spectrometer in a 32° diameter region surrounding the high galactic latitude B star α Vir. The scans reveal an H II region 14°×18° in extent with an emission measure of 8 cm-6pc, a gas density of about 0.6 cm-3, and a radial velocity of -6±1 km s-1 with respect to the local standard of rest. The total hydrogen ionization rate within the H II region is estimated to be 1.9±0.6×1046s-1.
