This paper presents optical spectroscopic observations, mostly obtained with the Shectograph on the du Pont telescope of the Las Campanas Observatory, of candidates for 12 X-ray sources in the LMC. Most objects were observed on ten consecutive nights. Five of the sources may be associated with the Be stars in the LMC. Some previously proposed candidates have been eliminated as probable counterparts for the X-ray sources on the basis of the new data. Nine of these sources have only Einstein observatory Imaging Proportional Counter positions with uncertainties of + or - 30 arcsec, so the identifications are tentative.
