Results of a pilot experiment with 4.6 tons of GaCl3 solution conducted as part of an international gallium solar neutrino project are reported. The experiment has demonstrated that a full-scale Ga detector is feasible, and an experiment with 30 tons of gallium is being planned. Details of the experimental procedure are discussed, as are the current status and future plans of the project.
