The interpretation of phase shift distribution measured with the technique of acoustic imaging has been a difficult problem because the vertical resolution of acoustic lenses in acoustic imaging is unknown. Recently, the kernel of phase shift has been computed in the ray approximation. In this study, we use the kernels of phase shift to estimate the distribution of the source, sound speed perturbation, of an active region, NOAA 7981, by inverting the phase shifts measured with the data from the Taiwan Oscillation Network. We also study the source distribution by the forward computation.
