We present spatially resolved 3 μm spectroscopy of hydrocarbon dust in a proto-planetary nebula IRAS 22272+5435. The spectroscopy with adaptive optics system at the 8.2 m Subaru Telescope revealed intriguing spatial distribution of hydrocarbon molecules and dust. The intensity of aromatic hydrocarbon feature at 3.3 μm relative to the aliphatic-feature at 3.4 μm increases with the distance from the central star at 0".35-0".82 (560-1300 AU). The spectral variation is well reproduced by a sequence of spectra of a laboratory analog of hydrocarbon dust subjected to thermal annealing. It indicates that a similar thermal process takes place at the formation of hydrocarbon dust in IRAS 22272+5435.
