Mira variables in the solar neighbourhood were selected from the IRAS
Point Source Catalog with the help of the period-luminosity relation.
The distribution of the IRAS color log(F25/F12) changes abruptly when
the period exceeds 290 days. The implication of this changes is
discussed.
