We have generated model images of protoplanetary disks at 10 μm to qualitatively analize the dependence of the maps on the stellar effective temperature and age, and to check their detectability with the proposed performance for Darwin. Concerning the size of the disks: The disks apparent sizes at 10 μm scale with the luminosity of the central star, which decreases with the age of the pre-main sequence star. The maximum detectable sizes encountered for disks at 10 μm range from 16 to 140 mas at 140 pc for typical central star values. Concerning detectability: The extended emission from the disks is detected, however details in the inner parts of the disks are only resolved for the more luminous disks. The intensities of the disks are much higher than the sensitivity limit of Darwin so they will be easily detected with observing times of less than a minute.
