About twenty spectra in a wide range up to 1.13 microns were obtained for the object identified as a nova in Scutum. The spectra are characterized by a strong continuum on which numerous large and intense emission lines are superimposed. Some lines are bordered by large absorption lines of complex structure. The following elements have been identified: H I, He I, C I, C II, N I, N II, N III, O I, O II, Mg II, and S I.
