Numerical values are determined theoretically for the optical parameters of the 'average' Martian surface, Syrtis Major, and Arabia. These parameters include the mean variation in Martian magnitude with phase angle, the brightness ratio between Syrtis Major and Arabia at two different phase angles, the phase function of Mars in the V system at several different phase angles, and the relative brightness distribution at different wavelengths for the whole disk and the two cited regions. The results are compared with data from photometric observations of the planet, and satisfactory agreement is found.
