Observational properties and the probability of discovery as eclipsing binaries have been determined for models of semidetached systems. Binaries of Cases A and B with intermediate and small masses have been studied. Synthetic light curves are shown to be affected mainly by the assumption concerning the shape of the components. The comparison between synthetic light curves and observed data can give further information on the reliability of the hypotheses assumed in the computations of binary star evolution. The calculated properties lead to useful indications about the evolutionary stages of observed binaries. The detection of systems evolving according to Case A appears to be favored in comparison with that of systems of Case B. Systems with undersize subgiants are comparatively difficult to observe.
