We have calculated the time-dependent fluxes and shapes of the gamma-ray lines expected from decay of 56Ni and other radionuclei in both Type I and Type II supernovae. The lines from different models of these supernovae have very distinct shapes. The widths, line centroids, shapes, intensity radios, and light curves of the line emission can be used to distinguish between the different models and constrain the parameters in these models. We discuss gamma-ray lines from SN 1987A in the Large Magellanic Cloud and also demonstrate other features of gamma-ray line emission from supernovae.
