The history of narrow-band solar observations is briefly reviewed, along with the organization of an international narrow-band observation program. Some aspects of observational and data reduction problems encountered at metric wavelengths are examined, and suggestions made by some investigators, aimed at overcoming the difficulties encountered in the metric range are discussed. The need for international cooperation in dealing with these problems is pointed out.
