Observational data for the LMC cluster NGC 1866 are compared with available evolutionary tracks. It is shown that the H-burning phase is populated at much larger luminosities than expected on the basis of the evaluation of the cluster age by Becker and Mathews (1983). The discrepancy is discussed, in the context of both canonical (Becker, 1981) and core-overshooting models, showing that neither appear able to achieve agreement with observations. Finally, possible progress toward a successful fit is discussed.
