Solar power satellites, as the only well-studied example of a major interplanetary scale engineering project available, are examined as unintended interstellar beacons. It is estimated that such systems could be readily detectable using current systems over modest interstellar distances, and could act as effective interstellar beacons on a secondary basis by cultures only slightly more advanced than our own.
