Earlier UV measurement of the absorbance of organic extract from Murchison carbonaceous chondrite showed a shoulder close to 220 nm, which is sometimes interpreted as evidence which supports the organic nature of interstellar grains. Here, UV and vacuum UV absorbance spectra of organic extracts from Yamato carbonaceous chondrites are presented. The most conspicuous peak is found at 190 nm, and only a weak shoulder is visible at 220 nm. The result indicates that organic dust grains are not likely to be carriers of the well-known 220 nm peak of the IS extinction curve.
