As a continuation of a systematic search around companions to bright galaxies, the environs of NGC 2859 have been studied. There are four smaller galaxies that are within 30 min of NGC 2859. Each of these four companions has a quasar or compact object within about 1 min. The redshifts of the four compact objects are 2.25, 1.46, 0.23, and 0.027. The probability of any one of the three bona fide quasars being an accidental projection of a background object is less than 0.01. The probability that all four higher-redshift objects are accidental projections is no higher than 10 to the -8th. The redshift of NGC 2859 itself, a large SBa galaxy, is 0.0054. The redshifts of its four largest companion galaxies are similar, but average about 100 km/sec greater than NGC 2859.
