The 2-40 micron spectrum of the OH maser source OH 26.5 + 0.6 imposes stringent constraints on the properties of grains around this source. It was shown previously that grains with absorption properties appropriate to cellulose provided good agreement with astronomical data, except over the wavelength band 2.9-3.3 microns, where a slightly lower flux compared with observations was predicted. The present paper shows that this discrepancy disappears if the polysaccharide grains are considered to be anhydrous.
