The gravitational and adiabatic models of the origin of galactic clusters are compared in the context of a statistical study of cluster distribution. The study found that the clusters tend toward elliptical shape, that neighboring clusters are similarly oriented, that clusters and their brightest members are similarly oriented, and that cluster orientation depends on the cluster distribution in the general neighborhood. The first two findings are compatible with the gravitational model but the latter two are not. The distribution of matter in the universe suggests a bubble structure, each bubble having a diameter of about 100 Mpc.
