The paper presents contrasting examples of geomagnetically conjugate phenomena investigated using satellite, rocket, aircraft, and ground observations. Particular consideration is given to the interactions between whistler mode waves and energetic electrons. It is shown that geomagnetic, radio, optical, and plasma observations taken together with model computations provide a great deal of information about conjugate phenomena and their dependence on such factors as conditions in the solar wind, substorms, and L-value.
