Detailed observationally determined models of molecular clouds with and without massive star formation are discussed. The assumption on which the models are based is discussed as well as the question of uniqueness. It is shown that the cloud structures can be explained by gravitational, magnetic and radiative processes. Further the differences between the clouds seem to be due to the initial values of cloud mass, cloud radius and the ratio of gravitational to magnetic energy.
