We introduce the COSMOS (=Cosmic Evolution Survey) project which is the biggest single, treasury program of the Hubble Space Telescope. The Advanced Camera for Surveys (ACS) is used to map a 2 square degree field with the I814 filter. Other optical and multi-wavelength data are taken with so-called great observatories on the ground and in space. The purpose of the COSMOS projet is to investigate the cosmic evolution of galaxies, active galactic nuclei, and dark matter as functions of both redshift and galaxy environ. One important thing is that the Suprime-Cam on the Subaru Telescope is used to map the COSMOS field at optical wavelength from B to z'. We report that the Subaru Telescope is contributing to the great progress in the COSMOS project.
