A first parallax is reported for HD 149499 supporting the main-sequence nature of the primary and the degenerate nature of HD 149499B. From PDS measurements of plates obtained with the 66 cm refractor at the Mount Stromlo Observatory, the parallax is found to be piabs = 0.0297 + or - 0.0059 arcsec, placing the system at 34 pc with mupsilon - Mupsilon = 2.6. System parameters are briefly discussed based on this new parallax.
