Single-trailed spectra of VV Puppis with coverage of more than a full orbital cycle show complex emission-line variations similar to those found in other magnetic white-dwarf binaries. Details of these are presented and discussed. Part of the emission lines appears to arise in a column of material falling onto the active magnetic pole. If the main narrow emission peak is associated with the secondary star, then reasonable masses can be derived. Weak satellite lines may arise in various mass transfer streams within the system, although several interpretations are possible for their origin.
