Available data are used to test the hypothesis of radiative driving for the wind of the central star of NGC 6543. Although adoption of the parameters inferred by Castor et al. (1981) would require the mass loss rate to be reduced by a factor of about 70 in order to bring the computed rates of working into balance, relaxing this restriction is found to result in a solution trajectory along which the models are both dynamically and spectroscopically consistent. It is concluded that radiative driving cannot be ruled out as the dominant acceleration mechanism in the wind of NGC 6543.
