The possibility that radio sources in Seyfert galaxies are generated by bursts of star formation has been investigated. The galactic Sigma-D relation has been used to estimate the supernova rates necessary to produce the observed radio emission in Seyferts. Required rates ranging from about 1 to 100 per year have been found, with a median value of about 10 per year. Even under the most favorable assumptions, recently created radio supernovae, as distinct from older supernova remnants, cannot lower these required rates significantly. The large numbers of massive stars needed to make the high supernova rates would radiate an amount of energy in excess of the total luminosities of many Seyfert galaxies. Therefore, radio sources in most Seyferts cannot be created by bursts of massive star formation unless the Sigma-D relation greatly underestimates the total radio emission from supernova remnants in the centers of Seyfert galaxies.
