The advantages of using a liquid mirror in a lunar telescope are
summarized. Interferometric measurements of a 1.5-m diameter liquid
mirror are presented which show that liquid mirrors can have the very
high optical quality required of a lunar telescope. Some of the liquid
metals that could be used are discussed.
