The nearby edge-on galaxy NGC 4945 shows evidence for both a Seyfert nucleus and an outward propagating starburst. It is also characterized by a prominent cone-shaped cavity generated by a starburst driven superwind. We believe the nucleus of NGC 4945 is experiencing the earliest stage of an evolution from starburst to AGN activity, as predicted by some theories. We propose to use NICMOS broad band, PaAlpha, H_2 and FeII images to i} confirm the presence of an outward propagating burst, including a burned out nucleus and a circumnuclear ring of star formation, ii} trace the superwind evacuated cavity and the ionization cone in the close vicinity of the nucleus {where optical lines are completely obscured}, iii} determine the location of the {optically hidden} AGN with respect to the nuclear star cluster and the cone-shaped cavity. Such observations will tackle the following issues: 1} the SB->AGN evolution, 2} the connection between starburst driven superwinds and AGN light cones, and 3} the relation between SN driven cavity and AGN torii. The angular scales of these structures are below the resolution of groundbased observations and the intrinsic optical extinction is A_V eq 20, thus making NICMOS an optimal tool to tackle these issues.
