These proceedings contain most of the talks presented at the 36th International Symposium Ahrenshoop on the Theoryof Elementary Particles which took place from August 26-30, 2003 in Berlin-Schmöckwitz. The symposium was jointly organized by the Institute of Physics of the Humboldt University Berlin and DESY Zeuthen.The conference continued an already quite long tradition starting with meetings at the Baltic Sea cost, mainly in the little scenic village Ahrenshoop. Over the years the organizers kept bringing together physicists from various countries in a both productive and familiar atmosphere.This years symposium was devoted to Recent Developments in String/M-Theory and Field Theory. We were able to welcome a remarkable set of leading scientists in the field. All the five days started with a pedagogical overview talk on most recent topics, such as string cosmology and phenomenology, strings and branes in plane wave backgrounds, D-branes and time dependent dynamics, matrix models and topological field theories, higher spin theories, followed then by more specific shorter contributions.We thank all the authors for preparing their manuscripts.
