In a catalog published by Stephenson and Sanduleak (1977), a star with the number 433 was listed with a question regarding the possibility of 'He I 6678 emission'. Subsequently, it was reported that the object is a pronounced variable radio soruce, which is located near the center of the radio-supernova-remnant W 50. The results of observations of the considered object are discussed, taking into account a number of phenomena which has not yet been found in any other stellar spectrum. Attention is given to a kinematic model which provides an explanation for these phenomena. However, nothing is said concerning the physical aspects of the system. Problems arise in connection with the emission of material which reaches a velocity of about one quarter of the speed of light. These problems are discussed in detail, giving attention to the jets, the relation between SS 433 and W 50, the characteristics of the considered object, and questions which cannot be answered at present.
