Terzan 5 -- An Obscured Globular Cluster This globular cluster has been little studied because it suffers from more than 5 magnitudes of visual extinction. It will be very bright in the IR and a comparison of the IR and optical images will show how reduced the dust extinction is. Because everyone knows what globular clusters look like, the effect of reduced extinction will be immediately apparent without the complicating effects of gas and dust emission seen from star formation regions.
