Formulas are obtained for the calculation of long- and short-period perturbations in the motion of an artificial satellite caused by the interaction of various harmonics of the geopotential. The periodic perturbations of the third, fourth, and fifth families are determined. Using the present formulas, all series of Euler orbit perturbations due to geopotential nonsphericity which arise when constructing a theory of third-order satellite motion with respect to the oblateness of the earth are derived.
