We propose to use the Low Resolution Spectrograph on the Hobby- Eberly Telescope (HET) to obtain classification spectroscopy of extremely red sources uncovered by the ongoing Two Micron All-Sky Survey (2MASS). Our objective is to search for dust-obscured QSOs and other AGN and thus obtain a census of these objects not biased by the usual optical and UV selection techniques. Results from this ongoing project obtained from the 5-m telescope at Palomar have shown that our search criteria have a success rate of 65% for detecting previously unknown quasars and Seyfert galaxies. Access to the HET will allow us to follow- up on the large number of 2MASS candidates more efficiently.
