Meteors: Observations

Scientific paper

The author presents news and details from reports submitted to the SPA Meteor Section. Another spectacular fireball was widely seen across western Britain around 23hUT on July 10, possibly producing an unusually persistent train (about 45 minutes). Radio reports suggested an unexpected spike in rates between 1h and 2hUT on July 18 from an unidentified source. August produced some atrocious weather conditions, which coupled with bright moonlight meant the Perseids were not well-observed, except by radio.
