Galaxy evolution in visible light is now fairly well understood via HST surveys, including the Hubble Deep Field and Medium Deep Survey. A summary will be given of the evolution of the basic galaxy morphological types. These results, taken together with previous data on the correlations between X-ray and optical fluxes, allow us to predict the X-ray evolution of the galaxy morphological types with redshift. Evolution in the ratio of X-ray to blue luminosity would produce significant changes to these predictions, and this possible evolution is explored. The predicted performance of XEUS is particularly encouraging for major progress in this area.
