In the present paper, the characteristic features of the spectra of some of the few known symbiotic objects are reviewed, and the qualitative changes in these features are examined. It is shown that the spatial distribution of symbiotic objects can be determined on the basis of a model in which the radiation efficiency of the cold components of such systems are assumed to be identical with those of isolated giants.
