The Multichannel Astrometric Photometer (MAP) is discussed; it is a
device to be used for the measurement of stellar image positions in the
telescope's focal plane. The design of a one channel version, the Image
Trailer, is described, and field test results are discussed. Data
obtained from trail plates and the Image Trailer are presented.
