Her X-1 was observed by RXTE in 1997 for a period covering two Short High states and the intervening Main High state. Here we present a summary of the observations. The behaviour of flux over the 35 day cycle in Her X-1 has been fairly well determined by recent observations with the RXTE All-Sky Monitor (Scott and Leahy, 1999, ApJ, 510, 974). However the spectral behaviour over the 35 day cycle has not been as well determined (e.g. see Leahy, 1995, A&AS, 113,21). Here we present the lightcurves, color-intensity, and color-color plots and relate these to the various processes occuring in the system over the 35 day cycle. We also present observations and interpretation of the pulse shape evolution.
