The appearance of a naked singularity to a stationary observer at infinity in the case of the Kerr metric is considered. The belief that a naked singularity can be 'seen' if observed strictly along the equatorial plane is shown to be incorrect in the sense that any signal that could be emitted from a naked singularity, even in the equatorial plane, would be infinitely redshifted. It is suggested that, as far as optical appearance is concerned, a naked singularity would be indistinguishable from a black hole, regardless of the choice of observer.
