We have undertaken a hard X-ray survey of faint AGN with ``warm'' infrared colors (1.0 < f60micron/f25micron < 4.0) with RXTE to unmask the signature of hard X-ray emission from an accreting black hole, under the assumption that these objects harbor an obscured Seyfert 1 nucleus. Using warm IR colors as an indicator of nuclear activity is a reliable way of selecting Seyfert galaxies, including almost 1/2 of Seyfert 2's with known obscured broad line regions (de Grijp, Miley & Lub 1987). We have selected 16 candidate AGN galaxies from a flux-limited sample of 893 galaxies from the IRAS Faint Source Catalog (Rush, Malkan & Spinoglio 1993) with IR colors similar to NGC 6552 (Fukazawa et al. 1994), which has an X-ray-discovered obscured Seyfert 1 nucleus. The candidate objects are predicted to have a 2-10 keV unabsorbed X-ray flux of >7x10(-12) ergs cm(-2) s(-1) if they harbor a broad line region. For column densities less than NH = 10(25) cm(-2) they should be detectable with RXTE. We will discuss the status of our study and its implications for unified models.
