Observations have been obtained of broad molecular line emission from SiO and what is probably a high-lying transition of OCS originating in the pedestal source in Orion. The unusually high abundances of these species in the pedestal source are consistent with the hypothesis that their formation occurred in high-temperature postshocked gas. The location of the pedestal emission in SiO and OCS is apparently not coincident with the Kleinmann-Low infrared source.
