Results are presented for a reconnaissance survey of clusters and groups of galaxies, ranging from very rich to very poor, using a qualitative morphological approach based on the Yerkes form-type content and dominance of the brighter inner members of the clusters and groups. A final sample of 46 Abell clusters and 42 poor non-Abell clusters covering a wide range of richness and Bautz-Morgan type is analyzed. It is found that: (1) the Yerkes form-type content of the inner brighter members of rich clusters is correlated with the degree of central spatial concentration of the brighter members; (2) the range in central spatial concentration apparently forms a sequence of decreasing degrees of dynamical evolution that is not a simple sequence of Bautz-Morgan type; and (3) the D and cD galaxies exhibit a continuity in both appearance and size and occur in density enhancements in the cluster centers.
