Observations of HR 1099 at 4885 and 1465 MHz were performed on eight days as part of the October 1977 campaign. The radio source was observed to be at its lowest levels to date - typically, the flux density was 15 mJy - and its spectrum was slightly inverted. By far the most interesting result was the fact that HR 1099 was 20% right-hand circularly polarized at 4885 MHz throughout the campaign interval, the first time significant polarization has been observed in any of the RS CVn binaries during a quiescent period. Neither the flux density, nor the spectral index, nor the percent polarization appeared to be correlated with the phase of the binary. This latter property indicates that a large-scale ordered magnetic field probably persists in this system.
