Pulsars: Statistics
Scientific paper
Nulling pulsars are statistically analyzed. The authors find that the correlation between the nulling fraction NF and the pulse width We is more significant than the NF-P and NF-α correlations previously obtained by Biggs. Pulsar statistics also shows that the NF-We relation can account for both NF-P and NF-α relations simultaneously. Though the behavior of pulse nulling is not closely correlated with pulsar ages as a whole, pulsars with significant nulling are indeed old stars. The possible origin of pulse nulling is briefly discussed.
