We are engaged in a wide-field search for variables in the distant dwarf spheroidal galaxy Leo II. This search employs the 1-meter telescope at the U.S. Naval Observatory Flagstaff station with Tektronix 1024(2) and 2048(2) CCD detectors. The field of view of the smaller detector, 11arcmin, includes most of the stars of the galaxy, while that of the larger detector, 23arcmin, encloses the tidal radius. Our photometry reaches the horizontal branch with accuracy 10% or better, enabling detection of RR Lyrae variables. We present a finding chart for historic and new variable stars, some representative light curves, and a color-magnitude diagram for the galaxy.
