Preliminary reductions of deep I-band surface photometry of NGC 5907,
obtained with a CCD on the Burrell Schmidt telescope, are presented. The
techniques used to overcome the noise induced by the bright, spatially
and temporally variable I-band sky are discussed. These show promise of
reaching 8 magnitudes or more below sky.
