The method proposed in the present paper for calculating the aerosol concentration in the upper atmosphere and stratosphere is based on the use of observations, made from a geostationary satellite, of occultations of bright stars by the atmosphere. It is shown how a vertical profile of aerosol abundance can be obtained from a light curve for any value of the height parameter.
