A sample of Seyfert galaxies containing 121 objects in an area of about 15,000 square degrees has been selected. The spatial density (0.000063/cu Mpc) and the luminosity distribution of these galaxies have been determined. The mean absolute magnitude over the interval -18.5 to -23.5 of the Seyfert galaxies is -19.74 + or - 0.08. The exponent n in the dependence of the spatial density on the photographic luminosity is equal to 1.6 at the faint end of the luminosity function (absolute magnitude greater than or equal to -21.0) and 3.5 at the bright end. Among all the galaxies in the interval of absolute magnitudes -18.5 to -23.5, the Seyferts constitute the fraction 1/250. Galaxies of the type Sy 2 constitute not less than 1/4 of the Seyfert galaxies and are characterized by a distribution of absolute magnitudes that is shifted toward low luminosities.
